What's different about DiscLabel 6?

Note: To keep your current version of DiscLabel while you evaluate the upgrade, we recommend you rename it "DiscLabel 5" (or earlier) before installing DiscLabel 6.

All Templates Included At No Charge

The DiscLabel Template Pack templates that were previously available for purchase are now included in DiscLabel at no additional cost. We've also added 10 new template sets for business and professional use.

New Design dialog

The New Design dialog, which opens when you choose File > New Design (or Command+N), has been much simplified.

You can choose a template or a blank design in this dialog, but you won't choose photos, text layouts, tracks or random designs at this step. These functions are all part of the Edit window.

New Tracks Palette

Click the Tracks button when you want to add track information from iTunes or other sources. In this palette, you can also:

Use album art as the background image of your design, if available. You can even insert it into all design elements by checking "Apply to all design elements".
Edit track information, including song titles, artist names, and playlist titles.

New inspector palette

Click the Inspector button in the Edit window when you want to:

Specify Fill, Stroke and Shadow colors and properties
Adjust text alignment, positioning, and spacing
Format tracks from iTunes and other sources
Align objects
Adjust image opacity, mask, and effects

New Tools palette

Click on the Tools button in the Edit window to reveal drawing, rotation, and text insertion tools that were formerly accessed in the Edit window itself.

Random Palette

The Random Design generator is now accessed by clicking the Random button in the Edit window. You can generate a random design for a single design element, or for multiple elements in one step by checking "Apply to all design elements".

Text Layout Pop-Up

Text layouts that were previously viewed in a sidebar now pop-up when the Text Layout button is clicked. You can now apply a text layout to all design elements in one step by checking "Apply to all design elements".

Template pop-up

Templates are now available in the Edit window. Apply a template to a single design element or to all design elements in one step by checking "Apply to all design elements". Now it's possible to mix-and-match templates in one design.

New Montage Features

The Montage function in the Import Images palette has been enhanced with more montage layouts, a more flexible method for adding photos to a montage, and the ability to edit a montage after it's been inserted.

Printing Simplified

The Print interface has been simplified. There are two tabs, Print Media and Calibrate Printer, instead of all controls being visible simultaneously.

Sparkle Software Updating

Sparkle has been added to simplify the notification and installation of product updates. You'll be able to update DiscLabel without going to the SmileOnMyMac website to download the latest version.
